Another Cinderella: Chapter 3

Date 26th jan
Dear Diary

So today me and the prince are going to the archery club . I don’t really want to go but I,m pretty sure I have to. Luckily, when I woke up my clothes for the day were at the end of the bed so that’s good ‘cause I know that I would not be able to decide what to wear. There’s soooo many outfits. Anyway time to go to the club unfortunately. Wish me luck. I’ll need it.

Some time later
Ok, so going to the club wasn't soo bad. Wait, no, it was just as bad as I thought it would be. I just had my dinner and I'm stuffed, but now I have the night free to tell you all the okay and the absolutely terrible going ons at the club.

After I finished the last entry we hopped in the carriage. I never realised how far away the castle is away from, like, everything. It was a loooong and really agonising trip. The club is in a small town, kind of like the one I lived in before all this. We got out and all the cute little kids ran out to greet us from a little wooden gate. They had little vests and hats. They all looked about six to ten—at least thats what i’d say—I could be wrong but I'm not going to go up to them all to get their ages.

We went towards the little wooden gate into the club. Then the kids all rushed to grab their bows. A lot of them crashed and had to wait for all the others. Then after some struggles they all got in to their spots and they were all really good, at least better than me! But then again, that’s not saying much—I suck. I just hope I can stand in the corner and wait for it all to be over without totally and utterly embarrassing myself.

The prince was walk around talking to the kids and giving them some advice and tips and he is soooooooo good—almost getting bullseyes every shot. Okay, I was kinda impressed. But start thinking I’m falling in love with him or anything!

A cute little girl came up to me—of all the adults who know how to do this—I told her I can’t help her and that it would be helpless and she’s way better than me. Okay, I did use other words, but they meant the same thing almost. She replied that she’d lost her hat because it flew away in the wind and wanted me to help her. Now that is something I can do!

She led me around and the whole time she was talking and talking and talking. She told me her name was Rosa. I think that name is soooo cute, just like she is. She also said that she was ten. When we finally reached the hat we were back where we started. I got her hat down and gave it to her. At the time I was confused but now, when I think about it, I think she just wanted to talk.
The prince—after he had talked with all the kids—came over to me and asked me if I wanted to learn how to use the bow. I mean how bad can it be. The prince showed me what to do, step be step. It looked easy, kinda, well he made it look easy. Then he handed me his bow. I tried really hard but the arrow just fell out when I tried to fire and I flicked my finger in the process. How do you even do that?

I tried again but the arrow only went, like, three feet. But the third time I tried, I fired it way too hard and it completely missed the target. Then there was a terrible noise. The arrow had smashed the window on the other side! The person in the room stumbled backwards and knocked over a trophy case. The sound of metal smashing against metal echoed around the archery club as the trophy case fell over.

Later we found out that quite a lot of the trophies broke. The prince had to pay for the damage. I apologised lots of times to the leader of the archery club and the prince and pretty much everyone else. I felt sooooooo bad as we drove back home. The prince told me that on his first time learning how to use a bow (when he was five) he smashed his mum’s prize pumpkin. It didn’t make me feel much better though. Well that was the excitement for the day. See you tomorrow.
Zayla.
