Great books for 7-13 year olds

This book is one I would've never read because of the title: Gladiator Clash which put me off. So when my sister Button chose it for me I wanted to return it, but I read it and all the other ones in the series! It's about a boy called Tom who meets an Egyptian mummy princess, Isis, and her pet cat called Cleo. They go back in time to a very dangerous places to find six amulets so Isis can go to the afterlife. Great read, fun and exciting.
The series has 12 books: six with Tom and the princess, and then you can join Tom again for the next six with Zuma an Aztec slave girl and her dog Chilli.

This writer is my favourite! She writes mostly fantasy. Her stories are page turning and always exciting. This one is about a girl who gets struck by lightening which makes her blind.

Alfie Onion is hilarious. It's a "Hero's Journey" story (I'll talk about what that is more another day) and Alfie goes on a great adventure ... but only to carry his brother's luggage. It's his elder brother, Magnifico Onion, who is destined to win their family a Happily Ever After, well, actually just their mothers idea of a Happily Ever After. But (stage whisper) his older brother is an idiot really. Alfie has to save the day - with  help from his dog, a talking horse and a couple of magpies. Great book. Really funny with a slight fairy-tale theme.

I was attracted to this series by the amazing covers and I'm glad I was. They are fantastic. Even my mum read them. Princess Celie's favorite day is Tuesday. On Tuesdays her magical castle adds a new room, a turret, or even an entire wing! No one can predict what the castle will do but Celie decides its her job to map out the castle because she noticed the adult staff are all getting lost! And when her mum and Dad, the King and Queen, get attacked Celie, with her special knowledge of the castle, is the only one who can protect their home and save their kingdom. Great first book, though got less exciting for me as the series continued. Still 100% worth reading!

Lexi and Al Hunter are twins but they don't have much else in common. Lexi is social and loves hanging out with her friends, while her brother Al just hides away reading about battles and history in the library. When the twins find an old dictionary everything changes. They travel back in time to find the meanings of words, which aren't always what you would think. Don't think it's boring. Going through time is no easy task, especially when they land in the middle on some really exciting events.

Love this book! I bought the whole series. It's about a young girl called Bree who gets kidnaped by vikings and taken away to their home by a young man called Michael the ship leader. Laugh and cry in the exciting tale of Bree. Really feels like she's real. Fantastic, amazing read.
